AUDITIONS ARE NOW OPEN!

Shrek the Musical is a hilarious, heartwarming story where misfits find friendship, love, and their happily ever after. 

Audition: Tuesday, October 14th. 

Callbacks: Friday, October 17th. 

Rehearsals will begin on Tuesday, October 28th, 2025 with a full-cast read-through. 

Regular rehearsals are scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday evenings (6–9 pm) and Saturday mornings (9 am–12 pm). Once the show is cast, a detailed schedule with your specific rehearsal dates will be shared. The number of rehearsals you attend will depend on your role.

Tech Week:

Evening availability required from Sunday April 12th, 2026 to Tuesday April 14th, 2026 for technical run throughs.

Performance Dates:

April 15th, 2026 - Evening Dress Rehearsal

April 16th, 2026 - 7:00pm Performance

April 17th, 2026 - 7:00pm Performance

April 18th, 2026 - 7:00pm Performance

• E-mail us at brightonstageproductions@gmail.com to book your audition time slot and to receive our rehearsal information package.
• Fill out our Audition Form. You will be asked to sign into your Google Account to complete the form. If you do not have a Google Account, please let us know and we will email a PDF form to fill out and return to us prior to your audition. 
• All individuals are invited to audition. No prior experience is required. We are a non-paying, non-equity community theatre group.
• Auditions will take place on Tuesday, October 14th at Trinity-St. Andrew's United Church (56 Prince Edward St, Brighton, ON) from 5:30pm-9:30pm. A 10-minute time slot will be assigned. Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your audition time slot to check-in and get settled.
• Callbacks will take place on Friday, October 17th at Heritage United Church Salem (13785 County Rd 2, Colborne, ON) from 6:00pm-9:00pm. Please ensure you are available for both the audition and callback dates. 
• You will be considered for all roles. For example, if you choose to audition for Donkey and do not get cast for that particular role, we will consider you for other lead roles and ensemble.

PREPARE VOCALS FOR AUDITION:

• Everybody auditioning is asked to sing "I'm a Believer" Beginning to :53.
• In addition to I’m a Believer, please also prepare either of the following:
• Altos/Sopranos to sing "I Know it's Today" - Original 2:06-3:37. Backing track has been cut to this section (note tempos slightly different).
• Tenors/Basses to sing "Who I'd Be" – Beginning to 1:36.

PREPARE SIDES FOR AUDITION:

• Everybody auditioning is asked to read the I, iv excerpt, the Farquaad/Gingy scene. You are welcome to indicate which part you’d like to read or do both if that’s your interest. Reading in role is preferable. You do not need to be memorized/off-book as we do not want you to forego characterization for line recitation.
• In addition to the Farquaad/Gingy scene, please also prepare either of the following if you are interested in auditioning for Shrek, Donkey or Fiona.
• Those auditioning for Shrek or Donkey will read the I, iii excerpt depicting when Shrek and Donkey meet 
• Those auditioning for Fiona will read the II, v excerpt showing when Donkey discovers Fiona is an ogre
• Sides will be will be provided upon booking your audition slot.

CALLBACKS:

Those that get a callback we will be considering for lead/supporting lead parts. Chorus members will not need to do a callback and will be cast from first audition unless our director would like to hear more. All of those invited to callbacks will come at the same time and perform with a partner in front of others. Partners NOT arranged in advance. Some may go twice if needed. You will be asked to prepare the Fiona/Shrek duet "I Think I Got You Beat" - Original: Beginning-2:16. Original music and backing tracks can be found HERE
